Smart automation meets sustainability
In 2024, our Foundry Business Unit has taken a major step forward in smart automation and sustainability.
We have introduced a state-of-the-art anthropomorphic robot designed to optimize the operations that follow immediately after the die-casting process.
What the robot does
The robot performs the following tasks with precision and consistency:
- Picks up the still-hot cast part directly from the mold, reducing downtime and manual handling stress.
- Removes the so-called “beans” (excess material) where present, with great accuracy.
- Separates the individual components from the casting sprue and places the sprue onto a dedicated chute, which directs it straight back into the melting pot.
Sustainable and efficient innovation
This final operation is a significant environmental improvement: immediately re-melting the sprue—the purest part of the casting—allows direct material recovery, prevents waste, and results in real energy savings within the die-casting process itself.
This strategic investment boosts both efficiency and product quality, further strengthening our commitment to sustainable modernization of our facilities and long-term industrial value.
